SWEDISH MASSAGE
The name Swedish came from Pehr Henrik Ling (Nov 1776- May 1839) who pioneered the teaching of physical education in Sweden. Ling is credited as the father of Swedish massage.
Swedish massage is a type of massage therapy that involves different kinds of movement like percussion, tapping, kneading, rolling and vibration to relax the body. Swedish massage relaxes muscles and relieves tension by using particular circular pressure and gliding strokes applied by the therapists. This massage technique improves circulation because it increases blood circulation through the body.
Swedish massage includes five main massage techniques which therapists use during the treatment: effleurage, petrissage, friction, vibration and taponement.
The Swedish massage typically lasts 60 minutes and involves the whole body. It starts with laying on the massage table on your stomach or your back. You can explain to the therapist what you want, what kind of pressure and if you want some specific are to be treated differently or to spend more time on some spots.
During the massage, your therapist will use their palms, fingers, forearms or elbows to produce different kinds of strokes and movements. Only grapeseed oil will be used at our studio.
The mental and physical benefits of the Swedish massage are very well known and can boost your mood by stimulating the organism to produce dopamine and endorphin.
